In Book One...
The Steel Renegades have an enemy, one that intends to snuff them all out. First though, they will destroy all that the Renegades own and had built.
After one of his three bars is firebombed Slammer finds a woman in the rubble of the burnt out bar. He has no clue who she is or what she was doing when the fire started. She’s not burnt so he doesn’t think she set the fire but she doesn’t know who she is when she finally wakes up.
He doesn’t know why but instead of leaving her behind, he takes her back to his compound. Slammer thinks she’s knows something about the, who and maybe even the why someone is after them.
Her name is Ivy Choler. When she wakes up, she doesn’t even know her own name. Little by little, her memory comes back to her but not everyone there is willing to believe her story, one such man is Grinder. He seems to think she might be working with the real gang that wants to take out their MC.
Then Ivy sees there is a child in the group. A child who doesn’t speak and makes weird finger gestures. Some of the working women seem to think the girl is a moron, but after watching her for a while, Ivy realizes the girl is signing and she know what that is.
She realizes the little girl is deaf. Ivy happens to be a teacher of the deaf, more and more of her past is coming out. She also remembers she has a brother Darrin. She thinks Darrin might have set her up. Wh
en the MC background checks her brother, they find him in the hospital after a terrible beating.
Ivy can’t help her brother and doesn’t know if she wants to. Her stepdad and brother had always told her she was worthless all her life but she did come back after her mom and stepdad died to finish raising Darrin.
Now Darrin is grown and he knows what he wants, he’s going to join an underground gang and finally have the respect he think he’s due. Reality is... the gang leader, a man with a snake tattoo on his hand, drew Darrin in to force Ivy to get inside the compound and help them get in to kill the MC.
He left Ivy out cold at the back of their bar to be caught up in the aftermath when the bar blew up. He knew Slammer would want answers and he was counting on the fact Slammer would take her back to the compound rather than turn her over to the police.
When she didn’t contact the man with the snake tattoo on his hand, the man called her and threatened to kill her brother if she didn’t do what he wanted. She had no idea what the man was talking about and when Slammer and the others hear the man’s threats, Grinder still thinks she’s working with someone on the outside.
Now Slammer is sure they are being targeted but they have no clue who or why. When he sees the photo of Darrin with his throat cut, he studies the tattoo on the other man’s hand.
Later, when everyone is gathered in the dining room, Ivy notices a red dot in the middle of Grinder’s back. It takes her a moment to realize what it is and when she does, she pushes Grinder out of the way just as a bullet shatters the glass of one of the windows.
She ends up catching the bullet meant to kill him, but it only went through her shoulder.
She’ll recover but now Slammer bent on killing this unseen enemy and is the MC is on high alert.

Shotgun
I'm VP of the MC Steel Renegades...
When we come under attack, we don’t know who we’re up against.
The only thing we do know is that a man with a snake tattoo on his hand is killing our brothers. He wants us dead but why... we don’t know.
Then she shows up. Who she is and what she wants we don’t know yet, but we will.
When her secrets are revealed she holds a piece of the why and the who, can we figure out the rest of it before it’s too late? Our lives depend on finding those answers.
River
I’ve stayed hidden for too long but now it’s time for me to come out of the shadows. I came here to find out about my brother, he died a long time ago and I never really knew why. I came to find answers.
The MC finds me after a fire and shots ring out but I didn’t have anything to do with either. I never realized the MC didn’t believe me. I always thought I would be innocent until proven guilty, guess that didn’t work here.
Its only after I tell them about my brother do they stop looking at me like I’m guilty. When they tell me what they are dealing with, I realize I might be part of the reason they are under attack.
I might actually know who the man with snake tattoo on his hand really is and I don’t think they’re going to like what I have to say, but I’m in just as much trouble as they are, that bastard wants me dead too. Only he thinks I’m dead already.
Prologue
Slammer folded the bullet into his hand and glared at his men. “The bastard sent her some photos tonight. One of them was her brother. He was lying in a hospital bed with tubes and monitors all over the place but he wasn’t using them. The bastard laid his throat open from ear to ear. The photo showed the knife he used along with his hand. The tattoo Ivy told us about? It’s very real.”
“And the other photos?” Shotgun asked.
“Both Ivy and Bess with red targets painted over their faces. Oh, he also blamed Ivy for spilling her brother’s blood.”
“That lousy bastard...” Shotgun swore under his breath.
“So why did she push me out of the way?” Grinder asked.
“She saw the red dot in the middle of your back. She said it took her a minute to realize what it was. She almost didn’t make it in time but she said, she wasn’t going to let anyone die, not that way, not when she could stop it.”
“Well, I’ll be damned.” Grinder shook his head.
“You were almost dammed to hell. That bullet was meant for your back, my friend.”
Grinder let out a sigh. “So, I was wrong, okay?”
Slammer raised a brow at him.
“Yeah, I was wrong about her.”
“Glad you can see that. I am claiming this woman as my own.”
Shotgun and Grinder both looked stunned.
“I’ve never seen you with a steady woman in all the years I’ve known you,” Shotgun stated in awe.
“Yeah.” Grinder nodded. “Wow.”
“Now isn’t the time to explain why. I don’t think I need to. But she has done what a brother would have done. She got your back. There’s more to it than that though. When she was bleeding out...” He didn’t finish. He had tried not to feel panicked, but he’d thought his heart had stopped.
The men stared at him.
He looked back at them his eyes flinty. “For now, we take care of business. But if any of you say anything about her again, be prepared to be unconscious for a while.”
Slammer went to the bar and poured himself a shot. He ducked it back then slammed the glass down on the bar counter. It shattered and the pieces scatter across the wood.
His men all stared at him.
He turned and stared back at them. “We need to catch this fucker. This club isn’t going down like a damn bunch of pussies. We’ve survived worse. No more blood will be spilled unless it’s theirs.”
The men all nodded, as they knew he was more than pissed.
They all took spots on lookout in various areas of the club.
Time seemed to drag and tensions grew tight as the hours passed slowly.
A couple of hours later, they heard sounds from outside again.
The men rushed to either side of the board slats and peeked out into the darkness. It was hard to see anything through the wood that covered the windows but they all witnessed what was out there to see.
Only now, it wasn’t so dark. They could see someone on the other side of the gates, actually three someones, standing there holding a bottle with a rag stuffed into the top. One of the rags was already lit and they were lighting the other two when a shot rang out.
One of the guys on the roof of the clubhouse had fired the shot. One of the glass bottles shattered and the flames spread everywhere. The man holding the bottle was drenched in the gasoline and flames. All they could hear for the next few minutes were the screams of the dying man.
Fairly soon after the first shot, a second shot rang out, the man writhing and screaming on the ground, went still and quiet. The flames still burned him but he no longer felt the heat from their deathly licks.
Immediately, a man came out of the darkness and he lit another bottle. Before anyone could do anything to stop him, he arched the bottle high over the gate. He scurried back into the darkness and they all watched as the second bottle hit the ground and shattered. The gas spread everywhere as did the flames but the flames didn’t reach any actual structure and it quickly went out without anything else being burned.
Following this, the people inside the clubhouse had to duck and run as shots were fired. They could all hear the glass of the windows breaking but very few of the bullets made it into the room as the plywood slowed the bullets down, just as Slammer had hoped.
If a person could actually see air, they would’ve said the air inside the club was blue with the all swearwords bouncing off the walls and the screams of the women as they tried to find shelter to hide behind.
Audrey dragged Bess behind her and crawled into the kitchen where there weren’t any glass windows. She covered the little girl’s body and they crouched in the corner of the countertop for protection.
Then the shooting stopped and everything outside wa
s quiet. Slammer and Shotgun were searching through the slats on the windows for any more attacks coming from outside.
The men had stopped swearing and were now manning the windows. The women were still screaming and crying until Slammer turned to them and yelled, “Shut the fuck up. That won’t help any of this.”
The screaming slowed down but the crying continued. Tension was still high as the men waited for something else to come at them. A while later, the tension had lessened some. Everything was quiet in the clubhouse now.
Amber, Trish and Tracy were sitting in the corner of the room still a bit jumpy and Audrey had brought Bess back to the safety of the dining room.
They were sitting on the floor in the opposite corner. No one there was sleeping with the exception of Bess. Audrey had laid her down on her lap and the little girl had fallen asleep from exhaustion about an hour ago.
Chapter One
When Shotgun looked around and saw Bess had fallen asleep on Audrey’s lap, he gathered her up in his arms and carried her down the hall. When he put her to bed, he sat down with her on the edge of the bed and just watched her sleep for a few minutes.
He hadn’t known about her the first eight years of her life, he hadn’t even known her mom was pregnant with her when she left the MC. But when she showed up here, he wasn’t sure he was meant to be her father. Then he hung his head in shame. She was his kid and she hadn’t asked to be born. He remembered the first few days she was here. He couldn’t even look at her. He thought in his own mind if he didn’t see her, she wasn’t really there. That had to hurt her. Then when she wouldn’t even speak, he thought there was something wrong with her and no one seemed to have any answers.
Why they didn’t realize she couldn’t hear them was anyone’s guess. Once they realized that, it all seemed to fall into place. Once she and Ivy got together, she could finally communicate and someone could actually hear what she was saying. It was then when his daughter had come alive. He leaned over her and brushed his lips over her forehead then got to his feet and went back out to the main room. He closed the door carefully but left it open just a crack, so if she cried out they would hear her.
