  A SPECIAL EDITION

  A Russian MC

This series book came from a Chapter Story Barron of The Hell’s Bloodhounds MC that was written 2 chapters a week as my readers read along with it at my Website. They took the journey of spinning a story and it was the experience of a lifetime for all of us.

I hope you enjoy this next book the series.

  Leonid

As a member of the Hell’s Blood Hounds MC I am second in command, I also have strong ties to Russia. Well, I used to. The Konovic family nearly wiped out my entire family before the Bratva found them out and put them down.

Some day we might go back and claim what is ours to claim but for now we live here, where no one tells us what do or how to live. Then I get a visit and a request from an elderly uncle. As part of the older regime of the Bratva, he had visited this area in the past.

The old ways are long gone but not everything has been forgotten it seems. There is a place near us that was used during the Cold War when Russia was considered an enemy. This place has evidence that could rewrite our history as an ally to the US. My uncle charges me to retrieve and in turn destroy it before it is discovered. Then my uncle warns me I may not be the only one after the evidence. There has been a threat from inside our great nation and it’s credible.

Now it’s a race to see who can get to the evidence first, me or them. Then I meet the new owner of the farm I need to go to, to do my uncle’s bidding and the meeting ends in a shooting. Not a great start but I’ll take it. The shooter just upped the game and I play for keeps.

  River

The day I inherit my grandfather’s farm I go to see it. I never knew I had a grandfather as my mother never told me she had family. When I lost my parents years ago no one came forward to claim me, so I was unaware I had family out there. The attorney told me my family was complicated and left it at that.

When I get to the farm, there is someone else there already and moments later someone starts shooting at us. What in the world is going on here? When the rest of his friends show up, I find myself surrounded by bikers. I’m not sure which scares me most, bullets or bikers. Guess I’ll find out.

Then I discover the complicated part of my family and I want out. I thought finding I had family meant I had ties to someone else in the world but these ties could get me killed. But Leonid won’t let me leave now. He claims I now have a target painted on my back.

I have to stay and see this through, my mama didn’t raise a quitter. I needed answers, so I’ll stay. Good, bad or otherwise.... this is my family.

  Chapter One

Leonid’s eyes snapped open at the soft ping from his phone. Calls in the middle of the night were never a good thing. He groaned as he turned over and grabbed his phone from the night stand. With a sigh, he flipped on the light and for a moment, he was blinded.

Looking at the phone, he cursed as the call was coming from a land far away. “Hello.” He growled.

“Leonid, this is your uncle Vlad. I need your help.”

Leonid frowned. “What’s going on Vlad?”

“I’m afraid I can’t tell you over the phone, so I’m coming to America. This is sensitive issue and the orders are coming down from well above your paygrade.”

Leonid frowned. “What are you saying, Uncle?”

“We, as in you and me have to do something that should have been done years ago. But I will tell you all of this in a few days when I get there. You will meet me at the airport,” Vlad told him.

“Da.” Leonid sighed heavily. “Just let me know when and where.”

When the call ended, Leonid shook his head and glared at the phone. His uncle Vlad was old school and there were rumors he once belonged in the KGB, but that was years ago. An old man now, Vlad going on eighty nine and long retired but like the Bratva, once in, you could never really leave. Only death would ever really set you free. Vlad might be eighty nine but he was still sharp as a tack. His memory was true and exact.

Leonid felt restless about his message tonight. He didn’t know why but there was something off about it. If Vlad wasn’t willing to talk about it over the phone there had to be a reason and he had a feeling it wasn’t going to be good for them.

Flopping back down on the bed, he glanced over at the alarm clock and noted the time. It was far too late to tell Barron about the call. There was a time when he would have woken the other man up but that time was over. Barron found himself a woman now, and no one would bother him after they went to bed, unless the place was burning down around them.

Leonid shook his head. He envied his friend in one respect. When Grace came to them, it was a hard time for her. She had just seen her father killed. When the truth was finally revealed however, much good had come around because of it. It was still hard on her but she was dealing as best she could.

One good thing about it was the end of Vitva Konovic’s reign of terror was at long last over. His prisons were now a thing of the past, as was his brutality. Finally, the people of his region could finally begin to heal and remember their loved ones.

Maybe someday, they could all go home again, and not worry about being hauled off to jail. Leonid laid there and couldn’t help but wonder what brought his uncle to call and why he was coming here. He hadn’t ever been in the U.S. before he didn’t think.

Oh well, he would find out when Vlad got here. Until then, he wasn’t going to worry about it. He closed his eyes again and settled in for what remained of the night.

As was his routine, his eyes snapped open a few hours later. He could see it was still dark outside, but the darkness was lifting as the sun came up in the eastern skies.

He rolled out of bed and stretched his arms to the ceiling. At six foot six inches tall, he didn’t have to stretch too far. He kept his hair on the short side, but it still glistened in the full sunlight, its rich dark brown color with hints of auburn were a family trait.

Rubbing his hand over his jaw, he could feel the soft scruff he usually wore. Dropping his hand to his chest, he rubbed the matt of reddish hair he had there. As his hand ribbed over his chest he could feel the puckered skin underneath the hair and the ink on his chest.

He’d covered his scars in ink to hide them from the world, but he knew they were there. Rather than remember the past now, he moved over to the door and left his room. He went to the room everyone used as a gym and began his morning workout. He was thirty-eight and it was hard work to maintain his body but he felt good about how he looked.

He was working up a sweat this morning but it felt good.

When Barron joined him about an hour into his routine, Leonid nodded at the other man.

Barron walked over to the tread mill and began walking.

“I think you should know I got a phone call last night,” Leonid told him.

“Oh, why do I need to know about that?” Barron asked as he began to go faster.

“It was from my uncle in Russia.”

  Barr
on almost fell off the treadmill at his statement. “What did Vlad want?” he demanded as he jumped off the machine.

“He’s told me he’s coming here and he needs my help in dealing with something from the past.”

“Do you have any idea what he’s talking about?”

Leonid shook his head. “No, but this is a major thing. My uncle isn’t one to be overly emotional.”

Barron shook his head. “Your uncle is how old? In his Eighties? He would have grown up back when the Cold War was going strong. Anything could and often did happen back then. You know it’s rumored he belonged to the KGB right? That, like the Bratva wasn’t above breaking the law back then. We may never know everything they did.”

“I know and from the way he spoke last night, whatever he is coming here for might not be good for Russia,” Leonid admitted.

“You mean might not be good for us, don’t you?” Barron growled.

  Leonid nodded. “Da, that too.”

“So what are you going to do?”

Leonid shrugged. “What can I do? I’ll listen and act accordingly. I’m not going to break the law or draw attention to us. That’s not what we need or want. And we got enough attention when we found Grace.”

“Da, that’s for sure.” Barron nodded. “But it wasn’t all bad and we did let the Bratva know we were here.”

“Hence, I think that’s why my uncle called me. If and I can’t stress this enough. If the rumors we heard about him are true, we might have to cleanup a situation the KGB doesn’t want the rest of the world to know.”

Barron nodded. “But I cannot lie to Sergi or the Bratva. So far, they have left us alone but that might not last if we bring up secrets that should remain secret.”

“Da, so until we find out what he wants, we just keep this between us huh?” Leonid suggested. “Unless we are forced to bring them in.”

“I do not suggest we do that.” Barron stared at him as he then reset the treadmill and stepped back on. “And another thing Leo... when you have news like this to tell me...” he paused to glare at Leonid. “Wait until I am on solid ground, eh?”

“Noted, Red.” Leonid gave him a smile as he grabbed a towel. Wiping the sweat from his hard body, he nodded. “He said he would be here in days. We shouldn’t have too long to wait for whatever news he has.” Leaving the gym, he headed back to his room.
